About this Resource
This site is a public service of Dmitri Dozortsev, MD, PhD – a physician-scientist and expert in translational fertility. He currently serves as the President of the American College of Embryology, Scientific Director of Translational Fertility LLC, and Director of the OMNI-MED laboratory.
This site as an independent educational resource and knowledge base for clinicians, embryologists, and researchers seeking a deeper understanding of the physiology, origins, diagnosis, and management of poor egg quality, as well as related aspects of reproductive physiology and embryology.
A Legacy of Innovation in Assisted Reproduction
Over a 35 years career, Dr. Dozortsev has made several foundational contributions to the field of assisted reproduction:
1994: Isolation of the oocyte-activating factor from sperm, which was subsequently identified and purified as PLC zeta.
2003: Pioneering work in testing sperm cells for chromosomal errors prior to fertilization, which was profiled as a feature in Nature News.
2005: Development of a fixation technique for PGTA by FISH, which was adopted into the Best Practice Guidelines by the ESHRE consortium.
2020: Introduction of the Dozortsev–Diamond ovulation paradigm, included by the editors of Fertility and Sterility in the prestigious “Sea Changes in Reproductive Physiology” series.
New Ovulation Paradigm
The most consequential of these contributions, the Dozortsev–Diamond paradigm, corrected several foundational errors in the prevailing understanding of ovulation that had persisted for decades.
By restoring physiological coherence to this central process, the paradigm has opened new – and previously inaccessible – possibilities for understanding and addressing poor egg quality. These insights and their clinical applications are explored throughout this resource.
